Epilogue

With the storm dissipating and the town of Cobb's Corners lying in ruins in its wake, the FOC arrives to sort through the wreckage. The survivors are given one last decision to make - stay with the FOC and fight the unknown mythos or return to their regular lives...

Session 26: Epilogue

When the survivors were sure that the worst had ended, they ventured out of the security of the Storm Cellar. They saw most of the town had been either burnt or ripped to pieces. Bodies lay in the streets. But there was no sign of the Dark Young or the members of The Young. When morning arrived so did FOC trucks that ferried in dozens of hired soldiers who began to assess the wreckage and transport survivors to a rescue camp that had been set up outside the town limits. There were other survivors but not many. When the local authorities arrived, stories of what had happened that night were hard to pry from the residents of Cobb's Corners. Either they were too scared to talk or madness had wiped the events from their minds.

Eventually the investigators were transported back to the FOC headquarters in Detroit. When they met with Mr. Abelard he offered each of them a permanent position working with the FOC. He told them that he recognizes that the threat to humanity isn't just limited to the Mi-Go - but comes from an unknown number of subjects that have been hidden from sight to the general public...lurking in the dark. After thinking over his proposition, only Thomas opted to stay with the company. Everyone else was returned to Arkham or wherever they chose to go from here.

Perri returned home to San Francisco where she stayed with her father until she was fully physically healed. She then returned to Arkham to finish out her degree(s) at Miskatonic University. She was approached by Dr. Armitage who took her into his confidence about the affairs of the Dunwich Horror and invited her to join him and a few other select professors to help maintain the Orne Library's Restricted Section. He now saw his mission to not only keep the books of a mythos nature that were already in the Orne's collection safe from the general public but to seek out other dangerous tomes from across the globe and obtain them for the collection - some knowledge is just too dangerous to be allowed to kept in circulation with the general populace. She resumed her relationship with Eugene and eventually they were married.

Eugene returned home to his mother and now free twin sister. He eventually also retuned to school - switching his major from the Sciences to Business. He had seen enough of the world that existed behind the veil. When he graduated, he continued to work with Able Sykes until eventually taking over the repair shop using his combined mechanics and business knowledge to sustain and the grow the business. He married Perri and they began a family - determined to lead a normal life.

Norris returned to his family home and continued in his newly discovered devotion to religion - often joining his Mother at church on Sundays. After seeing what he had seen in the sky over Cobb's Corners he could no longer deny the existence of God (or at least God-like beings). He would keep in touch with the others by correspondence mostly and invited Margaret to visit on holidays when she could. He never moved into the big cities - or larger towns - opting to live the simple life far removed from the experiences that he'd had with the mythos.

Margaret decided to Arkham and finish out her degree at Miskatonic University as well. She also stayed in contact with the others mostly through correspondence - and made the effort to visit Norris whenever there was a holiday that was too short to justify the long journey back to England. After graduation though, she returned to England - drawn back home by the promise of the knowledge to be found in the tomes living in dusty old libraries older than America itself. As her knowledge expanded she moved to the continent in search of even more - though finding herself content in merely obtaining the information and not pursuing any of the subjects of her research (occasionally passing along tips to the FOC to follow up with).

Thomas stayed in Detroit with Federated Oil & Chemical. He worked with them as they expanded their research into the Mythos. After five years with them, having been assigned to many different operations that took him all over the world in search of the numerous entities that came to their attention - he was called into a de-briefing with Michael Abelard and a small team. Mr. Abelard explained that the FOC had been continuously following up with the Mi-Go threat in the Vermont hills - eventually causing them to vacate their complex at Round Hill. Though the Mi-Go had mostly emptied it out and destroyed much of the technology before it was abandoned, they had been able to restore one of the cosmic gates in the facility. This gate led to the Moon - where the Mi-Go have apparently been building a base which housed a machine that threatened the entire planet. "This time', Abelard told him, "this time I need your help in saving the entire world..."
